Shane H. Hursh worked as a Law Clerk at Ashcraft & Gerel for two years while in law school before becoming an Attorney at the firm. Shane has primarily worked on complex, mass tort litigation, such as the Camp Lejeune Toxic Water Litigation in the fight to obtain justice for service members, families, and other individuals who were exposed to carcinogens while living and working on base. Shane’s practice continues to concentrate on these cases through the administrative process and federal court.

Law School

Shane graduated Cum Laude from Charleston School of Law with Presidential Honors, 300+ hours of pro bono service, and an induction into Charleston’s historic Forensics Club. At Charleston Law, he was the Student Bar Association President and served on various Student Organizations, SBA Committees, and the SBA Senate. Shane was also a recipient of the Keith J. Williams Award.

As a law student, Shane had the honor of having arguments submitted to the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina (D.S.C.) in a case involving the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA).

Nationally, he’s the 4th Circuit Representative and Executive Secretary of the Federal Bar Association (FBA) National Law Student Division Board, and formerly a Law Student Delegate on the American Bar Association (ABA) Law Student Division Assembly.

Shane was also a member of Charleston Law’s Trial Advocacy Board and participated in multiple national trial competitions, winning over 75% of the rounds participated in.

Outside the Law

Shane was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska (“The Coldest City in North America”) and has always had a passion for justice, problem-solving, and advocating for others. 

Shane left Alaska to receive his education as an NCAA student-athlete at Azusa Pacific University in Southern California where he received his Bachelor of Philosophy and his Master of Business all in a total of 5 years while completing over 120 hours of service.

In his free time, Shane enjoys quality time with his wife, and best friend, Savanna. This predominantly consists of enjoying the beauty of Charleston and traveling when able.

Shane has a passion for leadership and his mission is to fight to transform the lives of the members of his community, making a reciprocal impact in every room he walks into.
