Computer Spyware (Aaron’s, Inc.)

It is alleged that national retailer Aaron’s, Inc. and its franchisees have rented thousands of “rent-to-own” computers across the country equipped with tracking software and hidden cameras to spy on customers’ private and personal electronic communications. By doing so, Aaron’s, Inc. violated federal privacy and technology laws.

Think about the implications—if proven, this could mean they’ve been tracking users’ Internet activity over the course of years. Not only that, they could also have used the computer’s camera to see what their customers were doing in the privacy of their own homes.
