As a senior partner at Ashcraft & Gerel, Mr. Pascal has spent more than 45 years helping workers who have been injured on the job, as well as assisting in the firm’s mass tort practice. He has been involved in litigating serious personal injury cases, including third party cases and medical malpractice.

Considered one of the most experienced and knowledgeable workers’ compensation lawyers in the region, Mr. Pascal’s book, “Virginia Workers’ Compensation, Law and Practice,” is a widely-used reference tool for attorneys and students who practice in this area of the law. Originally published in 1986, this comprehensive treatise on the law is now in its fourth edition.

Early Years

At the outset of his career, Mr. Pascal was a panel member appointed to hear medical malpractice cases. He has litigated third party cases, as well as accidents resulting in substantial injuries.

Outside the Courtroom

As a testament to his commitment to workers’ compensation law, Mr. Pascal is a dedicated educator and speaker. He is frequently published in the Virginia Trial Lawyers Law Journal and is the chair of the Virginia Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program on workplace injuries, where he assists attorneys who wish to advance their knowledge of the law. For these programs, he has authored a number of publications, including, “Workers’ Compensation Practice in Virginia.”

Mr. Pascal has participated on advisory committees for the Virginia General Assembly on issues affecting compensation law and victim’s rights and has testified before various legislative committees of that body.
