Privacy Violations at Rams Head Tavern
Kyle Muehlhauser, the owner of the popular Rams Head Tavern restaurant in Savage, Maryland, has been arrested. He faces six charges of filming women without their consent or knowledge in the bathroom of his restaurant.
In May of 2014, the scheme was discovered when a woman in the restroom reported that a camera had fallen on the floor. After a lengthy investigation, including the search of Muehlhauser’s home, the locally well known restaurant owner and businessman turned himself into the police.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time a violation of women’s privacy has happened. In fact, it seems to be reported more frequently than ever before. Last year, a graduate student at the University of Delaware was discovered to have run a similar scheme. He also placed cameras in women’s bathrooms around campus.
Attorney Allen Lowe, among many others, chalks up this increase in voyeurism and privacy violation to the digital age and the technology that is so readily and easily accessible. Yesterday, Mr. Lowe went on WTOP, the number one rated radio station in Washington D.C., to voice his concerns. Listen here:
