Settlement for Woman Injured in Nursing Home Negligence Case
On March 7, 2013, our client was awarded a confidential settlement for the injuries she sustained during a fall in an elder care residency. Despite reporting frequent falls in the past, our client was left unattended one day. When she needed to use the restroom, she pushed her call button for assistance standing up. No one came. As she tried to get up on her own, our client fell and broke her hip, causing severe pain.
It took more than half an hour before she was discovered, seriously injured. As a result of this incident, she had to undergo hip replacement surgery, which then led to a blood clot in the same leg as her injured joint.
Ashcraft & Gerel took the lead in assisting our client through the case, taking her deposition prior to filing suit to speed up the long process of financial recovery. We’re pleased to announce this settlement on behalf of our client, and hope it pushes nursing homes and other elder care facilities to providing better, more consistent care to all their residents.
