Jonathan Beiser Named to DOL Bar Association Board
Recently, in December 2014, senior partner Jonathan Beiser was voted to become a member of the DOL Joint Bar Association Board of Directors. After being nominated by current Board members, Mr. Beiser was then elected by his peers to the Board.
The DOL Bar Association is a national non-profit organization. Its membership is open to attorneys who represent parties, either plaintiff or defense, in cases involving by the U.S. Department of Labor. While this covers a myriad of case types, one of Mr. Beiser’s practice area specialties is the Longshore & Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act and its extensions, including the Defense Base Act. The Longshore & Harbor Workers Act covers employees who are injured on the job while working in navigable water. The Defense Base Act covers all civilian employees who are injured on the job while working abroad under a U.S. government contract.
According to the organization’s Mission statement, the members and Board are a collection of attorneys from both sides of the court room who are “committed to improving the legal process in claims arising through the United States Department of Labor.”
As a newly minted member of the Board, Mr. Beiser will be actively working to promote and fulfill the objectives of the organization, including:
- Improve the efficiency with which claims involving the U.S. Department of Labor are handled for the injured worker, the employer, and the insurance company involved.
- Provide advice and guidance to the U.S. Department of Labor on laws and regulations both here and abroad.
- Create a trustworthy, impartial resource for issues of claims involving the U.S. Department of Labor.
- To defend and promote only the highest standard of conduct for attorneys.
Ashcraft & Gerel would like to congratulate Mr. Beiser on this well deserved honor.
